WVU Medicine Grant Memorial Hospital recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the upcoming opening of the RapidCare Clinic and the WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Outpatient Clinic. These two new services are designed to expand access to care and better meet the healthcare needs of the region.
Grant Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer John Sylvia spoke during the event, emphasizing the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving access to healthcare through expanded services. Sylvia noted that community feedback played a significant role in the development of RapidCare.
“We consistently heard from the community that there was a need for RapidCare,” Sylvia said. “This is another step in our commitment to providing quality care to our community, with many more to come.”
George Ford, Vice Chair of the Grant Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, also addressed attendees, highlighting the vital role healthcare plays in strengthening a community. Ford stressed the importance of continuing to expand services to meet both current and future needs.
The project was made possible in part through generous grant support from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation and the Burke & Herbert Bank Foundation, whose contributions were instrumental in bringing the vision to life.
RapidCare is scheduled to open on January 19, 2026. The walk-in clinic will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., closing only on Thanksgiving and Christmas. RapidCare will provide convenient care for less-urgent medical needs that do not require a visit to the emergency department, offering patients timely access to treatment.
The WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Outpatient Clinic will be housed in the same facility as RapidCare and will feature a separate waiting area and dedicated exam rooms designed specifically for pediatric patients. The children’s clinic exam rooms are playfully decorated with floor-to-ceiling murals depicting colorful illustrations of West Virginia native wildlife, creating a welcoming and comforting environment for young patients and their families.
The WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Outpatient Clinic is expected to open in spring 2026, further enhancing pediatric care options for families in the community.
