On Saturday, January 3, at approximately 0030 hours, Hardy County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to Paradise City in Mathias in reference to an intoxicated male acting belligerent at the establishment. The male allegedly departed on foot. After a short time, the male returned and an altercation ensued between the male and members of the establishment staff.
The Hardy County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene and began conducting an investigation. While on scene, the male was found to be unresponsive and lifesaving efforts were administered. EMS personnel responded to assist and the male would later be pronounced deceased on scene.
The West Virginia State Police is investigating the incident.
