James Hugh Oslin, 78, of Mathias WV passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Spring Arbor of Winchester, Winchester, VA.
Born on February 28, 1948 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late William Allen Oslin and Evelyn (Knott) Oslin. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth M. (Darden) Oslin. Also by his sister, Vivian Lynn Oslin of Dallas, TX and brother, William Christopher Oslin of Crofton, MD, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephew.
James was a member of the Collington Masonic Lodge, #230 Bowie, MD and a founding member of the St. Florian 9/11 Masonic Lodge #238 Beltsville, MD. He was a member of the Glenn Dale Vol. Fire Dept. in Maryland for 62 years. He was also a member of the Prince George’s County Rescue and Recovery Dive Team. He enjoyed scuba diving and loved to go to the Bahamas for diving. After a career with the Dept. of Defense, he retired to West Virginia where he enjoyed building things and maintaining his toys.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, 6:00-7:00 P.M., at McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Glenn Dale Volunteer Fire Dept., Glenn Dale, MD with a reception to follow. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M until time of service.
