Moorefield Dedicates Walking Trail
and Tennis &
Pickleball Courts
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — The Town of Moorefield gathered Saturday, October 10, at Moorefield’s Town Park to celebrate the dedication of a new walking trail and the ribbon cutting for the town’s tennis and pickleball courts.
The ceremony honored two members of the Moorefield community whose names will now be permanently associated with the park improvements.
The walking trail was dedicated in honor of Elwood Williams, recognizing his contributions to the community and marking his legacy with a recreational amenity that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.
The town also dedicated its tennis and pickleball courts in memory of William F. “Bill” Long Jr. The courts provide a new recreational opportunity for residents of all ages while serving as a lasting tribute to Long and his connection to the Moorefield community.
The ceremony began at the walking trail, where community members gathered for the dedication before moving to the tennis and pickleball courts for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Mayor Scott Fawley and members of Moorefield’s Town Council joined Parks & Recreation representatives, family members and community guests for the celebration.
The event provided an opportunity for the town to recognize the individuals being honored while celebrating continued investment in Moorefield’s Town Park and the community as a whole.
With the completion of the walking trail and tennis and pickleball courts, Moorefield’s Town Park continues to offer residents additional opportunities for recreation, exercise and gathering.
Town officials expressed appreciation to the families, community members and everyone involved in making the improvements possible and helping commemorate the legacies of Elwood Williams and William F. “Bill” Long Jr.
