East Hardy High School senior Madison Strosnider signed on the dotted line to extend her softball and academic career at Richard Bland College of William and Mary.
Strosnider led the Cougars to their second state tournament appearance in program history this season for her curtain call.
Strosnider was named to the West Virginia Class A All-State Softball First Team as an infielder, but was a stellar pitcher during her career, too.
Strosnider was impressive at the plate with a .526 batting average, 11 doubles, four triples, one home run, five stolen bases and 22 RBIs.
In the circle, Strosnider shined with 402 career strikeouts.
During her senior campaign, Strosnider was the Potomac Valley Conference strikeout leader with 211 strikeouts, fourth overall among Class A pitchers and finished 12th best in the state for fanning batters.
Strosnider joins the Richard Bland College Statesmen, who earned a trip to the program’s first ever NJCAA Division II World Series this year as the Atlantic B District champions.
The Statesmen were runner-up in the Region 10, but kept battling to earn the historic journey to the World Series and finished with an overall record of 32-27 under second year coach Joe Braun.
Strosnider will be studying pre-veterinarian medicine at Richard Bland College.
“It gives me a special opportunity, because it gives me a chance to see a bunch of girls from all over the country. I will have different opportunities with fielding, hitting and pitching. I definitely like the students at Richard Bland College. They are all nice and everybody knows each other. Nobody is a stranger. You drive through trees and boom, you are on campus,” East Hardy senior Madison Strosnider remarked.
Strosnider will be a tremendous asset to the Statesmen looking to reload for another trip to the World Series.
It was a special signing day as the entire Cougars Softball team joined Strosnider for the signing moment to Richard Bland College.
“Madison has worked extremely hard to reach this goal to play at the next level. I am very proud of her and wish her the best at Richard Bland College. She left a tremendous legacy here and will be missed,” East Hardy Softball coach Noah Orndorff noted.
