Romney, WV – Downtown Romney will glow this winter as the Fire & Ice Festival makes its debut on Saturday, January 17, 2026, inviting residents and visitors alike to step outside, bundle up, and enjoy a full day of winter-themed fun.
Hosted by the Hampshire County Convention & Visitors Bureau and co-hosted by the Hampshire County Public Library, Fire & Ice blends icy art with warm community spaces, turning familiar downtown spots into something a little magical for the day.
Festival activities will take place throughout downtown Romney, including the Taggart Hall area and the Library grounds. Highlights include live ice carving demonstrations, interactive ice games like cornhole and tic-tac-toe, glowing ice displays, and fire pits and warming areas where people can gather and linger.
Families can enjoy kid-friendly activities such as a winter story walk, indoor programs at the Library, and hands-on experiences designed to keep all ages engaged. Downtown businesses will also join in with special offerings, treats, and shopping opportunities throughout the day.
“The Library has been an incredible partner in helping bring Fire & Ice to life,” said Tina R. Ladd, Executive Director of the Hampshire County CVB. “This festival really reflects what makes Romney special, people working together, using shared spaces, and creating something welcoming in the heart of winter.”
Fire & Ice is free to attend and open to the public. Some activities or workshops may require registration or a small fee. Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly and plan to explore downtown on foot.
Residents are also encouraged to invite friends and family from out of town and make a weekend of it. Lodging options and event updates will be available at cometohampshire.com.
