Come one, come all! This Saturday, December 6, at Wardensville’s Community Center, 4:00-5:30, smiles and laughter will fill the air as local businesses and organizations share an abundance of good will. People of all ages are welcome to come and enjoy being a part of this wonderful community celebration where there will be something for everyone.
There will be lots of food and goodies, hot chocolate and cookies, perks and pleasures, marshmallows to roast, crafts to make, games to play, and all kinds of fun! Capon Valley Bank will be collecting children’s gifts for their annual “Cram the Cruiser” Campaign.
Santa Claus and the lovely Mrs. Claus will be greeting children and families, listening to Christmas secrets and offering special treats. Photo opportunities abound!
This year’s event will be on the lawn in front of the community center to spotlight the tall tree there that will magically become the town’s tree of Christmas Joy. The Town of Wardensville is partnering with Hardy Telecommunications to present a Christmas tree with brand new lights that will glow and sparkle throughout the season. The Tree Lighting will take place at the conclusion of Christmas Joy at 5:30 when everyone can gather around the tree. Doug Coffman, recently retired as owner of the Kac-Ka-Pon will be honored to flip the switch to light up the tree!
Businesses and residences around town will be lighting up, too, for the holidays. The local decorating contest will offer prizes for the top three winners in both business and residences. The winners will be announced at the Tree Lighting ceremony. First Place winners will receive the traditional star of Christmas Joy. Please call Tom & Patty Austin at 304-874-4345 if you would like your home or business to be considered by the judges.
Parking will be available all around the community center and restrooms will be available inside. In case of bad weather on Dec. 6, the event will be held on Dec. 13.
The Wardensville Lions Club sponsors this merry event and is hoping for a good turnout for Christmas Joy in Wardensville.
