The Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF) has activated its Emergency Response Fund to assist food pantries and feeding programs in the 5-county area served by the Foundation: Berkeley, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, and Morgan.
“Food banks and pantries across our five-county area are facing an unprecedented surge in demand, as more individuals and families seek nutritional assistance. If you are looking for a meaningful way to support your neighbors during this critical time, there are several ways to get involved, shared Amy Pancake, Associate Director/COO of EWVCF.
Pancake further commented, “Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in ensuring no one in our community goes hungry. You can make a direct donation to a feeding program of your choice, and a list of programs is posted on our website. If you are not sure exactly where to give, donations to the EWVCF Emergency Response Fund will be directed to local nonprofits organizations doing critical work in our community. Donations to the Emergency Response Fund are tax-deductible, and 100% of the donations will directly benefit organizations doing this work in our community. No fees will be charged by the Community Foundation for administering this special pass through fund.”
More resources for those seeking assistance or those wishing to volunteer are located at ewvcf.org. Donations to the EWVCF Emergency Response Fund may be made online, ewvcf.org/emergency-response-fund or by submitting a check made payable to EWVCF with Emergency Response Fund in the memo line to EWVCF, PO Box 40, Romney, WV 26757.
The Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation is one of over 900 community foundations across the country – and one of 29 serving the citizens of West Virginia.
