The Hampshire County Arts Council is offering a one-day watercolor workshop, “Bits and Pieces of the Landscape,” led by artist Kristen Colebank, on Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Landscape painting can feel intimidating because there is so much to translate onto the page,” explained Colebank. “I call this my ‘Bits and Pieces’ workshop because we deconstruct the landscape into common elements – like skies, grassy areas, trees, stone/brickwork, and more. Once watercolor painters gain confidence depicting these bits and pieces, they will see improvement in their landscape paintings.”
Workshop participants should have a little watercolor experience. They also must bring their own watercolor supplies, like paper, watercolors, brushes, pencils, and erasers (a detailed supply list will be provided to those who inquire about the workshop).
The workshop will be held at HCAC Studio 203 in the Brannon Building, WVSDB Campus, Romney, and will include time for a half-hour lunch break (participants should pack a lunch). Workshop cost is $40, payable to HCAC. For more information or to reserve your spot, email cl*****@***********ts.org or call 304-834-8369.
