Organizations serving United States Veterans in Berkeley, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, and Morgan Counties are encouraged to apply for funding through the Frank C. Fischer Veterans Fund during the 2026 application cycle of September 14 through October 5.

Established at the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF) to honor the life and legacy of Frank C. Fischer, the fund supports nonprofit and faith-based organizations, civic groups, and schools that provide programs and services benefiting United States Veterans. The fund seeks to strengthen efforts that improve the lives of veterans and their families through education, health, wellness, community engagement, and other supportive initiatives.

Since its founding in 2023, the Frank C. Fischer Veterans Fund has awarded grants to 60 projects representing 39 organizations, in support of veteran-focused programs throughout the region all united by a commitment to serving those who have served our nation.

The fund commemorates the life of Frank Fischer, a 1973 graduate of Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, Virginia, who went on to serve in the United States Army. A proud Veteran throughout his life, Frank was deeply devoted to his country and believed strongly in supporting fellow service members and veterans.

“The Frank C. Fischer Veterans Fund continues to build on Mr. Fischer’s legacy by investing in organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of Veterans,” said Susan Caperton, EWVCF Executive Director. “We encourage eligible organizations to apply and help expand support for those who have sacrificed in service to our nation.”

Please apply via the Foundation’s website, www.ewvcf.org.
