Logan — Logan Regional Medical Center will mark its 100th anniversary with a free centennial concert celebration on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Logan High School Willis-Nisbet football stadium on Middleburg Island.
Gates open at 3 p.m., with music beginning at 4 p.m. The evening will close with a fireworks display sponsored by Marshall Health Network.
LRMC CEO Justin Turner said the hospital wanted to mark the milestone in a way that reflected its ties to the community rather than with a traditional formal event.
“There are many ways an organization can celebrate a milestone anniversary,” Turner said. “Some folks choose fancy formal galas or ticketed events, but we wanted to do something different that fits who we are. We wanted to celebrate with the people who have supported us for the last 100 years. This concert is our way of saying thank you to the communities that have trusted us with their care for generations, and to set the stage for the next 100 years of serving the area we love and call home.”
The concert lineup includes Grammy Award winner and Country Music Hall of Famer Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder; “America’s Got Talent” winner and Logan native Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.; West Virginia country-rock band Davisson Brothers Band; Motown vocal group Voices of Classic Soul, featuring current and former lead singers from groups including The Four Tops, The Temptations and The Drifters; Princeton, W.Va., native and 2026 ICMA Female Vocalist of the Year Delnora; McDowell County songwriter John Ellison, known for the hit “Some Kind of Wonderful”; Kentucky country artist Ryne Brashear; and the Mountain Stage Band, the house band for NPR’s live music radio show “Mountain Stage.”
The event will open with a set from the Logan Regional All-Stars, a group of local musicians with ties to the hospital performing together for the first time.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, though bleacher seating will also be available. Food and drinks will be sold by local vendors, including Juanita’s Mexican Grill, Giovanni’s, Southern Slush, Shuckers, Pop & Pour and Triple B Eatery. A free Kids Zone will also be available. Because the event is held on school property, coolers, backpacks and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
Free parking will be available on Middleburg Island and in downtown Logan, along with additional parking at Logan Regional Medical Center, where a free shuttle will run continuously from 3 p.m. until the event ends. In case of inclement weather, the celebration will move indoors to the nearby Logan Memorial Fieldhouse.
The event is being made possible in part by community sponsors including Thornhill Automotive Group, the Hatfield McCoy Convention and Visitors Bureau, Marshall Health Network, Coalfield Health, CHHE Federal Credit Union, American Electric Power and Dignity Hospice.
