Canton, OH (June 18, 2026) – The BBB® Charitable & Educational Fund, Inc., serving the Canton Region and Greater West Virginia, is excited to announce the scholarship winners in the eighth annual BBB® Life Lessons Essay Contest.

BBB® Life Lessons is a theme-based essay contest that challenges students to reflect on living a life with integrity and ethics. This year’s essay theme was ‘CIVILITY.’ There is no minimum GPA requirement to apply, and the funds can be used toward any type of post-high school education, including college, university, trade schools, career or technical schooling.

The contest is for graduating seniors located within the BBB serving the Canton Region & Greater West Virginia’s service area, which includes 12 counties in southeastern Ohio and 52 counties in West Virginia. Six scholarships are awarded in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,500. This year, there were 230 essays submitted by students from 81 schools.

1st place – Olivia Draher – Lake High School, Hartville, OH

2nd place – Isabella Bowen – Washington High School, Massillon, OH

3rd place – Ruby Moyer – Carrollton High School, Carrollton, OH

4th place – Aubrey Fisher – Keyser High School, Keyser, WV

5th place – Allison Theis – Jackson High School, Massillon, OH

6th place – Morganne Miller – East Hardy High School, Baker, WV

“The ideas shared by this year’s Life Lessons Essay Contest winners offer an encouraging look at the future, given their insightful writing. Their essays reflect an understanding that respectful communication and genuine consideration for others are qualities that shape stronger workplaces, better businesses and healthier communities. It is an honor to celebrate their accomplishments and invest in students who recognize that civility is foundational for meaningful, effective leadership,” said John Richard, chair of the BBB Charitable and Educational Fund.

The scholarships are awarded by the BBB® Charitable & Educational Fund’s Sr-2- Sr program.
