On Saturday morning, May 9th, members of the American Woodmark Foundation and REC Team came together and installed a sign in front of the MAC House at 223 Maple Avenue in Moorefield. Moorefield Active Caring (the MAC HOUSE) has served the area as a food pantry for nearly 40 years and has operated out of the current facility for 20 years. The only signage has been a small sign on the front of the building.
Earlier this year, American Woodmark Foundation made a very generous donation to support the MAC House and asked at that time if there was anything else we needed. Seeing all the nice signage around the American Woodmark facility prompted the question of whether they could help with a sign. The team jumped right on it, took care of logistics and showed up Saturday morning with materials and a volunteer crew to install the sign they made.
The MAC House is a non-profit area food pantry. Our goal is to prevent food insecurity for our neighbors by providing healthy nutritious food for those in need. We depend entirely on the generosity of our community, local businesses and churches to keep our shelves stocked.
The MAC House is open on Monday and Wednesday from 10am-3pm and Friday 10am-2pm. In addition to providing food for those in need, we sell slightly used clothing for a very reasonable price. The profit from the clothing sales helps cover the cost of maintaining the facility.
