Mason Hamilton drove in seven runs on five hits to lead East Hardy Varsity Cougars past Northern Garrett Huskies 15-12 on Monday at 238 Cougar Drive. Mason Hamilton tripled in the fourth scoring three, doubled in the second scoring two, singled in the third scoring one, and singled in the sixth scoring one.
Bats blistered as East Hardy Varsity Cougars collected 19 hits and Northern Garrett Huskies tallied 15 in the high-scoring game.
Northern Garrett Huskies were the first to get on the board in the first when Hunter Livengood doubled, scoring one run.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars took the lead in the bottom of the first after Northern Garrett Huskies committed an error, and Shayne Sisler flew out, each scoring one run.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars added two runs in the second. Mason Hamilton doubled to center field, making the score 4-1.
Elliot Myers-Shirer homered to center field, which helped Northern Garrett Huskies tie the game at four in the top of the third.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars took the lead in the bottom of the third after Gage Dove homered to center field, Mason Wilkins homered to left field, and Mason Hamilton singled to center field, each scoring one run.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars scored seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Gage Dove singled, scoring one run, Mason Wilkins singled, scoring one run, Mason Hamilton tripled, scoring three runs, Levi Price tripled, scoring one run, and Shayne Sisler singled, scoring one run.
Shayne Sisler began the game for East Hardy Varsity Cougars. The right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and six runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking four. Landon Yoder started on the bump for Northern Garrett Huskies. The hurler gave up 14 hits and 11 runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Mason Hamilton, Owen Miller, and Cole Lantz each appeared in relief for East Hardy Varsity Cougars.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars tallied 19 hits in the game. Mason Wilkins, Shayne Sisler, Gage Dove, Patrick Mills, and Evan Hamilton each collected multiple hits for East Hardy Varsity Cougars. Mason Hamilton stole three bases. East Hardy Varsity Cougars stole four bases in the game.
Northern Garrett Huskies accumulated 15 hits in the game. Hunter Livengood drove the middle of the lineup, leading Northern Garrett Huskies with five runs batted in. The second baseman went 4-for-4 on the day. Gavin Maust, Caleb Hinebaugh, and Jacob Chambers each collected multiple hits for Northern Garrett Huskies. Northern Garrett Huskies had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Caleb Hinebaugh and Landon Yoder led the team with two walks each. Northern Garrett Huskies turned one double play in the game.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars play at home on Tuesday against Washington Varsity Patriots in their next game.
