Moorefield, W.Va.— A long standing local tradition returns this spring as The Grant County Bank hosts its 24th Annual Relay for Life Golf Tournament on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Valley View Golf Club in Moorefield.
What began in 2000 as a way to support the American Cancer Society has grown into one of the area’s most meaningful annual events. With the exception of just two years, the tournament has brought the community together year after year to support those impacted by cancer while contributing to research, patient services, and advocacy efforts.
The impact over time has been significant. Since 2011, the tournament has raised approximately $90,000, with an estimated $115,000 raised overall since its inception. In 2025 alone, the event contributed $11,000 to the American Cancer Society, continuing a legacy of giving made possible by local businesses, sponsors, and participants.
“This tournament is something our community has truly built together over the years,” said Tournament Chairman Jared Amtower. “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. This tournament is one way we can come together, honor those stories, and support the work being done to make a difference.”
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. and wrap up by early afternoon, offering participants a full day of golf, camaraderie, and friendly competition. The $70 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, and opportunities to participate in contests such as Longest Drive, Straightest Drive, and Closest to the Pin. A $10,000 prize will be awarded to any player who records a hole-in one on a designated hole.
Teams of four are encouraged to register, and individual players will be placed on a team.
Registration is open through Friday, April 24.
As the tournament enters its 24th year, The Grant County Bank remains proud to continue a tradition that goes beyond the course, bringing people together for a shared purpose and making a lasting impact in the fight against cancer.
