South Branch Valley Chapter, NSDAR attends 121st WVDAR State Conference

The West Virginia Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual conference at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs from March 12-15, 2026. State officers gave reports, members voted on resolutions, and other business was conducted. The Western District hosted the event, themed “Bloom Where You are Planted,” with WV State Regent Sandra Isner-Johnson presiding.

Distinguished guests included Virginia “Ginnie” Sebastian Storage, President General, NSDAR, Carol Teeters, Tennessee State Regent, Barbara Foote-Hennessy, Vermont State Regent, Gena Selby, Wisconsin State Regent, and Charlotte Stout Reynolds, National Chair, Community Service Awards.

Four members from the South Branch Valley Chapter, NSDAR, attended this meeting. The guest speaker on Friday evening was President General Virginia “Ginnie” Sebastian Storage, who delivered a message encouraging members to Illuminate our Legacy by Telling Our Stories. On Saturday evening, Mr. Clayton Burch, Superintendent of West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind, served as the guest speaker.

At the certificate presentation, the South Branch Valley chapter received several awards:

  • 100% Participation in the President General’s Project

  • 3rd place for Daughters in Motion, Step Award (small chapter)

  • 2nd place for Daughters in Motion, Physical Activity (small chapter)

  • Participation in the Bee Line March

  • Promoting Awareness of DAR schools

  • Educational Resource Lesson Plan

  • Outstanding Support for Education

  • Support for Education

These recognitions reflect the chapter’s dedication to both educational initiatives and broader community involvement. A memorial service was held at the end of the conference to pay tribute to daughters who passed away in 2025.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, nonpolitical volunteer service organization dedicated to the preservation of history, promoting patriotism and the education of our children. Any woman eighteen years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership. DAR volunteers are available and willing to assist with guidance in genealogy research for women interested in becoming a member.
