Eastern WVCTC Hosts Annual Job Fair with Record Turnout

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College hosted its annual Job Fair, led by Career Counselor Dixie Heavener, on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Even before the event officially began, job seekers were lining up outside Eastern’s main entrance, eager to make their next career move. The job fair drew a record turnout of attendees, including local job seekers and high school students exploring opportunities across the region.

Students were bused to Eastern from area high schools, including Petersburg, East Hardy, Union Educational Complex, and West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind.

More than 45 employers participated, representing industries such as healthcare, education, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, and public service. Employers included:

A.L.L. Construction Group; Allegany Communications; American Woodmark; AT&T; Burke & Herbert Bank; Burlington United Methodist Family Services; Career One Stop/Region 7 Workforce Development Board; Carquest of Petersburg; Chesapeake Geosystems; Choice Care at Home; City of Winchester; E.A. Hawse Health Center, Inc.; Eastern Allegheny Council for Human Services (EACHS Head Start); Fox’s Pizza Den; Hermitage 1841 Restaurant; Inn at Lost River/Lost River General Store; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; Ironworkers Local Union 568; Maryland State Police; Maryland Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services; Mountainheart Community Services; Mullin’s 1847 Restaurant; Mullin’s Hotel; Omega Health Services; Pendleton County Schools; Pendleton Manor; Pilgrim’s; Sheetz; South Branch Cinema 6; South Branch Inn; South Branch Smokehouse; St. George Medical Clinic; Timberline Mountain; UPMC Western Maryland; Valley Health; WorkForce West Virginia; West Virginia Army National Guard; West Virginia Jumpstart Savings Program; West Virginia Laborers Union Apprenticeship; West Virginia Rural Water Association; West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind; and WVU Medicine – Grant Memorial Hospital.

“We are deeply grateful to all of the employers who participated in Eastern’s Job Fair and to the local high schools who brought their students to campus to explore career opportunities,” said Dixie Heavener, Career Counselor. “The strong turnout and enthusiasm made this event a tremendous success, providing students and community members alike with valuable opportunities to network, learn about in-demand careers, and connect with local employers.”

Eastern’s next Job Fair is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, and will again be open to the public. Participation is free, and space is limited so reach out today to reserve your spot.

Eastern’s Career Services Office provides ongoing support for students and alumni seeking internships, job placements, and career readiness workshops throughout the year.
