Wardensville native RaeAnn Orndorff was named Moorefield High School’s first female athletic director.
“I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with and help our athletes coaches, school and community,” Moorefield High School Athletic Director RaeAnn Orndorff remarked.
Orndorff looks forward to a positive culture within the athletic programs.
“I envision a year focused on growth, sportsmanship, and building a positive culture that supports both athletic and academic success,” Orndorff commented.
Orndorff is hoping to create new ideas to implement into the MHS programs and has already developed a special Stinger’s Row parking area for football fans closer to the field.
“New ideas have been tossed around, but not officially approved yet. I want to increase school spirit and provide more support for our student-athletes and coaches,” Orndorff noted.
Orndoff hopes to be a role model for future leaders and that includes everyone.
“It’s very meaningful [first female MHS AD] and I hope to inspire students by showing our leadership roles are possible for everyone. It’s kind of a crazy feeling when you’re told you’re part of the first admin team at MHS with Mrs. Campbell [MHS principal] and Mrs. Mace [MHS assistant principal],” Orndorff stated.
Orndorff explained how welcoming and helpful all the coaches have been to her stepping into this role and is thrilled to see soccer start a program as another sport offered to the student-athletes.
Orndorff is currently a second grade teacher at Moorefield Elementary School and believes her time in the classroom teaching has helped prepare her for being the athletic director.
“”Honestly, teaching in the classroom is very similar to this role. My years in sports, teaching students, and collaborating with staff have prepared me to take on this position,: Orndorff said.
Orndorff is an East Hardy High School alumna where she competed in cheer and softball, plus middle school volleyball.
Orndorff received her elementary education degree from Shepherd University.
