Meet NFL Super Bowl Champion Malcolm Mitchell on September 30.
WordPlay Connects, the nonprofit arm of WordPlay bookstore in Wardensville, will host NFL Super Bowl champion and children’s author Malcolm Mitchell on Wednesday, September 30. The 6 p.m. event—free and open to the public—will take place at Moorefield High School Auditorium, 401 N. Main St. in Moorefield. Doors open at 5:30 p.m..
Malcolm will share his incredible story—about his football career and his love for reading. Following the program, Malcolm will greet fans, take photos, and sign copies of his newest picture book, My Super Duper Me—provided free (while supplies last) to kids, courtesy of WordPlay Connects. Born and raised in Valdosta, Georgia, Malcolm Mitchell was an Under Armour All American as a high school senior and went on to finish in the top 10 all-time receivers during his playing career at the University of Georgia (UGA). After graduating from UGA with a communications studies degree in 2015, Malcolm was drafted by the New England Patriots, becoming a Super Bowl Champion in 2017. Malcolm created a youth literacy initiative called Read with Malcolm and established the Share the Magic Foundation to transform children’s lives through literacy. His books for children include The Magician’s Hat, My Very Favorite Book in the Whole Wide World, and My Super Duper Me.
In addition to the September 30 public event, Malcolm Mitchell will also visit two schools in Grant County. He is one of four authors being hosted by WordPlay Connects for nine school visits within the next two weeks, resulting in more than 2,100 free books being gifted to young readers in the Potomac Highlands region.
