“Very proud. Winning the district championship was our first goal. Most of this team has been playing all-stars together since they were 8 and we have never been the district champs, we have always been the runner-up. This is the 5th straight year we will be going to state. As for the district championship, Jefferson County is always tough. They have a lot of kids to pick from. They got ahead of us early, but our guys don’t get down on themselves. They know we have the bats to get back in the game at any time. I feel like we are never out of a game with these guys. Payden is great at the top of the lineup. With his speed, if he gets on base with no outs, it’s almost a guarantee that he is going to score,” Moorefield Junior League Baseball Coach Adam Crites stated.
