Donald Edward Smith, age 64 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday morning, May 17, 2026, at his daughter’s residence. Born on June 1, 1961, in Winchester, VA, he was the son of the late James Edward Smith & Dawson J. Shanholtz, Jr. and Ida May Snyder Smith Shanholtz. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Janet Diane and a brother, James Allen Smith.
Donald was a man of great compassion who dedicated his life to helping others. He had a natural talent for carpentry and loved presenting his handiwork as gifts to friends and relatives. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, but his greatest pleasure came from his devotion to his family and his church. The cherished moments spent with his grandchildren were truly the highlight of his life.
