Despite a solo home run by Matthew Iman for the Yellow Jackets in the second inning to cut the deficit to 2-1, Musselman refused to let the Yellow Jackets celebrate by scoring four runs in the sixth inning and staving off a rally for a 7-2 win.
Eastyn Haines and Oliver Crites singled in the sixth inning, then Trevor Baldwin plated Haines on an error.
Musselman got out of the jam with a strikeout and catch.
The Yellow Jackets have a lot of memories for the seniors at George Hott Field and beyond.
Moorefield Baseball honored the senior duo of catcher Oliver Crites and first baseman Trevor Baldwin.
Baldwin plans to attend Eastern WV Community and Technical College to earn a HVAC technician certification.
Baldwin is a member of the Future Farmers of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.
Crites plans to become a welder and be a pipe fitter and or a boilermaker.
Crites is a member of the National Honor Society and VoTech.
“I am very proud of these two young men for what they have accomplished on and off the field. They are great teammates and mentors. We play quality teams to help us get better for the postseason,” Moorefield coach Wade Armentrout said.
Moorefield lost to Frankfort in the season finale and began the playoffs this week.
