Eastyn Haines collected three hits in five at bats, as Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets defeated Tygarts Valley Bulldogs Varsity 12-4 on Friday. Eastyn Haines doubled in the first inning, singled in the seventh inning, and singled in the second inning.
Moorefield Varsity Yellow Jackets got on the board in the top of the first inning after Eastyn Haines doubled down the right field line, and Blake Snyder hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Moorefield Varsity Yellow Jackets added one run in the second. Edison Metheny singled to center field, making the score 3-0.
Moorefield Varsity Yellow Jackets scored five runs on five hits in the top of the seventh inning. Cyrus Kump grounded out, scoring one run, Eastyn Haines singled, scoring one run, Oliver Crites doubled, scoring one run, Trevor Baldwin doubled, scoring one run, and Blake Snyder singled, scoring one run.
Blake Snyder earned the win for Moorefield Varsity Yellow Jackets. The hurler allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking two. Adam Woods took the loss for Tygarts Valley Bulldogs Varsity. The pitcher went four innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out five and walking five.
Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets amassed 10 hits in the game. Trevor Baldwin collected two hits for Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets in four at bats. Edison Metheny paced Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Caleb Flinn stole two bases.
Adam Woods and Cooper Markley each collected two hits for Tygarts Valley Bulldogs Varsity. Preston Smith, Austin Gear, and Cooper Markley each drove in one run for Tygarts Valley Bulldogs Varsity.
