East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars Keep It Close Against Lincoln Cougars, Lose On Walkoff: Big Mac Time: Shayne Sisler smashed a Grand Slam at McDonald’s Classic

East Hardy Varsity Cougars fell to Lincoln Cougars 15-14 on Saturday at East Fairmont High School on the final play of the game. The game was tied at 14 in the bottom of the seventh when Brycen Moore drew a walk, scoring one run.

East Hardy Varsity Cougars collected 19 hits and Lincoln Cougars had 11 in the high-scoring affair.

East Hardy Varsity Cougars opened the scoring in the first after Shayne Sisler doubled, scoring two runs.

Alex greene singled down the right field line, which helped Lincoln Cougars tie the game at two in the bottom of the first.

East Hardy Varsity Cougars took the lead in the top of the second. Shayne Sisler hit a grand slam to left field, to give East Hardy Varsity Cougars the advantage, 6-2.

East Hardy Varsity Cougars added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Shayne Sisler singled down the left field line, Dayton Dove singled down the left field line, and East Hardy Varsity Cougars scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Evan Hamilton hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fifth for the East Hardy Varsity Cougars.

Lincoln Cougars flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 11-10. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.

East Hardy Varsity Cougars captured the lead, 14-11, in the top of the seventh when Eli Combs drew a walk, scoring one run, and Mason Wilkins singled, scoring three runs.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Lincoln Cougars went back into the lead after A Belcasto walked, Aj Bert walked, Maddox Alberzino walked, and Brycen Moore walked, each scoring one run.

Shayne Sisler stepped on the mound first for East Hardy Varsity Cougars. The hurler gave up eight hits and six runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. C Edwards led things off on the mound for Lincoln Cougars. The starter surrendered five hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking three.

East Hardy Varsity Cougars amassed 19 hits in the game. Shayne Sisler provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led East Hardy Varsity Cougars with seven runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 4-for-5 on the day. Levi Price, Patrick Mills, Dayton Dove, Evan Hamilton, and Mason Hamilton each collected multiple hits for East Hardy Varsity Cougars. Gage Dove led East Hardy Varsity Cougars with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.

Lincoln Cougars piled up 11 hits in the game. A Belcasto and Alex greene were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Lincoln Cougars. Alex greene drove the middle of the lineup, leading Lincoln Cougars with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 3-for-4 on the day. Aj Bert collected two hits for Lincoln Cougars in four at bats. Maddox Alberzino paced Lincoln Cougars with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. Lincoln Cougars turned two double plays in the game. Lincoln Cougars were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Cade Mooney made the most plays with four.

Next up for East Hardy Varsity Cougars is a game against Moorefield Yellow Jackets on Tuesday.
