East Hardy Track knows what it takes to reach the mountain top as last year’s state medal count was piling up in Charleston.
Madison Kerr set a personal record winning the 100 meter hurdles state championship and an encore is on top of the list for the Cougar pouncing specialist.
East Hardy Track coach Rachel Schetrom has remained focused and determined in building the team to march back to Charleston.
East Hardy Boys Track has lightning speed which avenged for bronze medals in two relays in Charleston (4×100 & 4×200) and the ribbon cutting didn’t stop there as Gideon Good helped the shuttles team gather seventh place and took 8th in the high jump as the medals danced back to Baker.
East Hardy speedsters from last year’s relay teams back on the squad will be Evan and Mason Hamilton, Nehemiah Graham, Khristian Bauserman, Angelo Louis and Gideon Good.
Good is the anchor for the shuttle hurdles team with Bauserman and Louis.
The Cougars are looking to replace Chase Rexrode who graduated.
East Hardy has a ton of speed to add to the mix including Levi Price, Aubrey McCullough, Mason Wilkins, Silas Schetrom, Evan Sears, Brice Toulomelis and Kayden Myers.
The Cougars long distance running has the biggest advantage with cross country core competitors including Jonathan Montgomery, Kane Persinger, Shaye Barb, Madison Cowgill and Brianna Hamilton.
Shaye Barb won the two-miler in Keyser last week, so that perseverance running away from the Flatwoods Monster in cross country regionals is paying dividends.
Alexis McKinney and Morganne Miller provide fast footwork for the Cougars and hurdling expertise joining Kerr.
East Hardy’s Savannah Wilkins had a pair of Top-5 throws in shot put and discus at Keyser, so the field competition is strong starting out.
Add the boys side with Korbin Miller, Nicholas Roomsburg, Gideon Good, Bodie Brill and Nick Miller will be a solid core to success.
The Cougars are ready to pounce back to Charleston and the Den will be roaring tomorrow.
East Hardy will host the Class A Potomac Valley Conference Championships on April 30th.
The final home meet will be with Moorefield on May 7th.
The Class A Region II Championship Meet will be in Keyser on May 12.
