Charleston, W.Va. – Governor Morrisey urged lawmakers to adopt a state budget that fully funds school choice, protects healthcare and public safety, delivers meaningful tax relief, and strengthens West Virginia’s long-term competitiveness.

“Every dollar we allocate reflects a choice about who and what we stand for,” said Governor Morrisey. “This budget puts West Virginia families first, protects our core responsibilities, and puts our state on a path to long-term growth.”

Governor Morrisey’s proposed budget fully funds the Hope Scholarship, ensuring thousands of West Virginians can continue to access educational opportunities that best fit their children’s needs.

The Governor’s budget fully funds a five percent income tax cut while maintaining core services. He is asking lawmakers to also collaborate with him to find an additional five percent.

“We made tough budget decisions and tightened spending over the last year, cutting red tape and eliminating waste so state government works more efficiently,” said Governor Morrisey. “That strong fiscal discipline has put us in a position to deliver meaningful tax relief without sacrificing essential services and returning money to the people who earned it.”

The Governor also called on lawmakers to advance legislation that would authorize funding for the Rural Health Transformation Program which will allow for the deployment of nearly $200 million in secured federal funding to expand telehealth, recruit providers, strengthen behavioral health services, stabilize rural hospitals, and improve patient transportation.
