To date ETCT Career Counselor and Job Fair organizer, Dixie Heaver has 40 employers committed to participating. She needs 10 more employers to reach the goal for the 2025 Fair. Those wishing to be involved may contact Ms. Heavner by calling 304-434-8000, extension 9239 or sending an email to dixie.heavener@easternwv.edu.
Supportive programs like TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and Adult Basic Education will be on hand to answer questions for those who may need or want those services while being employed. All of ECTC’s academic departments will also be present to provide information about those fields of studies.
On the spot 30 minutes interviews will be available for those who are ready to begin work in the near future. Any person looking to be interviewed should bring an up-to-date resume and dress professionally (no jeans, T-shirts, ballcaps, or sports apparel).
Schools from the five Potomac Highlands counties will bus 11th and 12th grade students to the job fair. WQZK (Q94 Live) will be broadcasting at the job fair from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Ms. Heavener also spoke about the college’s Dress for Success program. The school is collecting new and gently used career-ready clothing to support students who are preparing for interviews, internships, clinicals, and first jobs in a variety of fields. For business attire, donations of modern suits, blazers, dress and khaki pants, polos and button-down shirts, and professional work shoes are welcome. Blue-collar work wear that can be donated includes fire-resistant clothing, work boots (steel and composite toe), durable jeans, cargo pants, and Carhartt style jackets, high visibility vests and shirts, scrubs and non-slip shoes. Anyone wishing to donate any of these items should contact Ms. Heavener at the phone number and email address listed earlier in this article.
