Charlie Kirk is dead.
The world in the immediate aftermath of his death stood still in a moment of breathless silence and shock, fixated on the one single, most compelling factor of Charlie’s life—his commitment to pursuing and sharing truth. It motivated him, guided him, and inspired us to listen to him.
The spirit of truth which so apparently manifested in Charlie’s life, also revealed his character after death.
he world was captivated by, no, confronted with, the Truth made evident through one man’s life, recognizable even to a confused and rebellious generation who are both born with a soul, and also, accountable to God for it. Charlie shed his blood for the cause of truth, for Christ’s cause, and brought into remembrance another story, a better story: the story of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection which Charlie knew and Loved.
We were awakened briefly in that excruciating moment on September 10 when Charlie loosed his grip on his microphone that had, mere seconds before, amplified his voice. We watched horrified as microphone and man fell together in a massacre of free speech.
Charlie’s voice which once rang out like a bell on a September Sunday in its clarity and transparent revelation of truth now fills the earth with a silent plea. And in the silence there is a calling, an invitation. Can you hear it? Who will pick up the gavel? Who will strap on the belt of truth? Who will pick up Charlie’s microphone? As is written in Isaiah and as was once quoted by Charlie himself, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.”
