PILGRIM’S FRESH COMPLEX SENIOR TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT CARL MONGOLD – EVIS

Carl Mongold started working for the Rockingham Poultry Co-op on March 11, 1986. He started working in the Cut-up department on night shift and has worked on night shift for 38 years of his 39-year career. He transferred to day shift for a year and then decided night shift was a better fit for him and his wife. He worked in a few departments during his tenure, which include the Tub Room, Rehang, and Protein Conversion. After the feather department shut down in Protein Conversion, he then transferred back to the plant to Evis, where he now works a final trimmer.

Carl has seen many changes since he started, too many to count. He said there are so many more employees now and the departments are different. The expansion in the 1990’s increased the plant size immensely.

Carl and I talked about the supervisors and managers he has worked for during his years with the company. He said he got along great with all of them and currently works for Patty Morton and Mike Shoemaker.

When Carl isn’t working, he likes to rest up and get ready for the next night of work. He likes spending time with his family; he has four children, five grandchildren and is excited about another grandchild on the way this month! Fishing is a favorite past time he likes and he also likes working with the Hardy County 4-H Club. He helps take them fishing, bowling, roller-skating and going to the movies. They sell chances for the 12 days of Christmas to raise funding for the club, working with local businesses for donations.

What does the future hold for Carl? He is hoping to retire when he can and keep working with the 4-H Club. Hopefully, he will be able to do a lot more fishing at his favorite spots!

Thank you, Carl, for your dedication, hard work and loyalty to our Company!
