Moorefield’s Kail Greenwalt prepared to swing off the eighth hole tee at Valley View Golf Club with the historic Oakland Hall in the background.

Petersburg ruled over the six-team match held at Valley View Golf Club last Wednesday by two strokes over Hampshire.

The Vikings won the match with 149 strokes, followed by the Trojans with 151 points, Berkeley Springs took third place with 174 points, Moorefield placed fourth with 176 points, Martinsburg grabbed fifth place with 187 points and East Hardy rounded out the field with 212 points.

Petersburg’s Lucas Riggleman and Hampshire’s Peyton Vanmeter tied as the overall low-medalists with cards of 35 to lead the Top-10 at Valley View Golf Club.

Hampshire’s Brian Rickman finished in third place with 36 strokes

Moorefield’s Kail Greenwalt and Petersburg’s Matt Riggleman tied for fourth place with 37 strokes apiece.

Petersburg’s Ayden Gossard notched sixth place with 38 points.

Petersburg’s Maverick Wratchford and Hampshire’s Brayden Hott tied for seventh place overall with 39 points.

Rounding out the Top-10 golfing scores were Martinsburg’s Eli Henderson and Petersburg’s Austin Kuh knotted at 41 strokes each in ninth place.

Some of the challenges on the course were the large bushes and trees as Petersburg’s Matt Riggleman tried to free a ball from a bush on the seventh hole and East Hardy’s Marshall Walker and Albert Lermineaux aimed to clear the trees on the eighth hole.

The Yellow Jackets were led by second seed Kail Greenwalt with 37 strokes, followed by top seed Drake Kimble with 42 points, sixth seed Thomas Parisi with 47 points and third seed Trevor Baldwin was fourth overall with 50 strokes and tied with fourth seed Veronica Carr to round out the scoring for the top four scores counting for the match.

Moorefield’s remaining scorers were: No. 7 seed Kody Biser with 49 points, No. 5 seed Marcus Cremann with 55 points, Tyler Roy with 57 points, Ronan Straight with 62 points and Porter Alt with 66 points.

Yellow Jackets hosted the Valley View Golf Invitational on Monday as the golfers competed in a full 18-hole course.

Moorefield’s Ronan Straight hit out of a sand hazard on the fifth hole next to the green and putted into the hole on the next stroke.

All remaining scores can be found on the WVSSAC Golf app with a subscription service fee.

The next golf match on the schedule is tomorrow at the Highlands at Fisher Mountain.

Moorefield’s Veronica Carr smacked the ball off the seventh hole tee during last week’s match at Valley View Golf Club.
