This grant will provide funding to operate high-quality afterschool programs that support both academic achievement and student well-being. The programs will include the following:

– Academic Intervention & Skills Building: Targeted support aligned with school performance needs to help students strengthen core skills in reading, math, and other subjects.

– Student Engagement & Enrichment: Hands-on activities, clubs, and opportunities that make learning fun and foster creativity, teamwork, and leadership.

– Healthy Meals & Transportation: Dinner will be provided for participating students, along with safe transportation home to ensure access for all families.

– Parent & Family Engagement: Quarterly trainings for parents using the Leader in Me program, designed to support student growth and strengthen home-school partnerships.

Hardy County Schools is also partnering with Pilgrim’s and the Hardy County Family Support Center  and Leader in Me to maximize community support and resources for students and families.

“Hardy County Schools is committed to supporting the whole child,” said Dr. Sheena VanMeter, Superintendent of Hardy County Schools. “This grant allows us to extend learning beyond the school day, providing students with the extra help they need academically while also giving them safe, enriching, and enjoyable experiences. By working with our families and community partners, we can ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.”

The 21st CCLC program is designed to enhance student success and family engagement by partnering with schools and communities to provide extended learning opportunities. Families will also have access to resources and events designed to strengthen home-school connections.

The after-school programs will begin October 15 at the designated schools. Enrollment information will be shared with families in the coming weeks.
