Gary Dalton Wolfe, Sr. of Petersburg, WV passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2025 at Grant Memorial Hospital, one day after his 86th birthday.
A cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Gary was born on March 25, 1939 in Moorefield, WV and was a son of the late Mildred Maxine Wolfe Marshall and step father, John Marshall. In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by his sister, Jane Lofton.
Gary’s journey began in Moorefield where he spent his childhood. He married the love of his life, Shirley Mitchell Wolfe, with whom he built a beautiful family, including their son, Gary Wolfe, Jr. and wife Bobbi and daughter, Connie Orndoff and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Gary was also a supportive brother to his two half-brothers, John Marshall II (Terri) and Dixon Marshall (Andrea) all of Moorefield, WV.
For 39 years, Gary dedicated his skills and hard work to American Woodmark in Moorefield, WV, where he retired. His commitment to the company was evident in the lasting relationships he cultivated over the years. Gary was a veteran of the United States Army.
He enjoyed fishing and had hunting camps in South Fork and Pendleton County.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and friends at the camp and visiting Wolfe Mountain.
Gary’s family will receive friends on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 4 – 6 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be conducted on Sunday 2 PM, March 30, 2025 in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV.
