PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
HISTORIC LANDMARK COMMISSION
The Town of Moorefield Historic Landmark Commission will conduct a public hearing regarding the proposed discontinuation of the Town’s local historic district expansion and the Commission’s regulation of properties located within the expanded district.
The Town of Moorefield’s original historic district was established in the 1980s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In subsequent years, the Town established an expanded historic district that has been locally governed by the Historic Landmark Commission.
Due to changes at the state and federal level and changes affecting properties within the expanded district, the Historic Landmark Commission has determined that it will no longer pursue state or federal level recognition of the expanded district and proposes to discontinue local historic regulation of the properties located within the expanded area.
The public is invited to provide comments regarding this matter. Written comments may be submitted to the Town of Moorefield prior to or at the public hearing. Members of the public may also attend the hearing and provide comments in person.
