Betty Jo Fansler, 89, of Mathias, WV passed away August 17, 2026 at Winchester Medical Center.
She was born December 12, 1936 in Pendleton County, WV to the late George Allen and Vergie Frances Crider Turner.
Betty had previously worked as a nurse’s aide at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Teets Lodge, and later worked at Lost River Grill as a cook. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Bergton, and she loved spending time with her sisters.
On December 5, 1952 she married David Robert Fansler who preceded her in death on November 15, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Angela Fansler Kaplinger, Laurel Fansler Look; two sons, David “Jay” Fansler (Reta), Robert M. Fansler; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beth Ann Fansler; her granddaughter, Amy Showman; two sons-in-law, Russell Kaplinger, Charles Look; and three sisters.
Pastors Sherry Hoffman and James Carr will conduct a funeral service 1:00 PM Saturday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church. Burial at the Fansler Family Cemetery will be private.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Friday at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
