The Bridgewater Reds returned to full strength in the final week of the season with the return of the Hamilton twins to power up for back-to-back victories in smashing fashion featuring four home runs.
Bridgewater’s Brett Tharp blasted a three-run dinger and Evan Hamilton notched a game-high three hits and scored thrice, while Thomas Knight smacked a triple and scored three runs to catapult past Elton Blue Sox 16-1.
The Reds belted three home runs in an 18-1 rout over Massanutten Mountaineers during the season finale in the Rockingham County Baseball League.
Bridgewater took the initial lead in the opening frame as Evan Hamilton was beaned and twin brother Mason Hamilton garnered an RBI single, then Brett Tharp recorded an RBI sacrifice fly for a 2-0 score.
Nick Griffin hammered a solo home run in the second inning for the Reds, 4-0.
Corbin Lucas obliterated a three run home run in the third inning plating Evan Hamilton (walk) and Mason Hamilton (single) for a 12-nil advantage.
Reds pitcher Shayne Sisler had a no-hitter through three innings with two strikeouts, then pulled for the playoffs and the Mountaineers managed to get five hits and one run against the relief pitchers.
Mason Hamilton delivered an RBI single and scored on an RBI double by Lucas for a 17-0 fourth inning lead.
Bridgewater took an 18-1 advantage in the fifth inning on a solo blast by Chris Huffman.
Bridgewater improved to a record of 11-11 and will face Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks this week in the opening round of the RCBL playoffs (series started Monday).
The Mountaineers finished the year at 17-7 and will be the second seed in the RCBL playoffs with a battle against Elkton Blue Sox in the first round.
