Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets Past South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks

The bottom of the lineup helped Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets capture an 11-0 victory over South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks on Tuesday at 3073 Hawk Hwy. Sara Baldwin, Anniston Kite, and Raleigh Kuykendall combined for six of the team’s 12 hits in the victory. They scored six runs and drove in one.

Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets got on the board in the top of the second inning after Sara Baldwin doubled down the left field line, Emmy Crites flew out, Brenna See walked, and Annie Barr was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.

Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Emmy Crites and Grace Simmons.

Anniston Kite earned the win for Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets. The starter allowed three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking three. Ava Louk took the loss for South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks. The starter went three innings, surrendering seven runs on six hits, striking out four and walking six.

Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets piled up 12 hits in the game. Raleigh Kuykendall, Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets’s number eight hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Annie Barr and Grace Simmons each drove in three runs for Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets. Sara Baldwin and Brenna See each collected multiple hits for Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets. Kerigan Bergdall stole three bases. Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets ran wild on the base paths, piling up seven stolen bases for the game. Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets turned one double play in the game. Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Grace Simmons made the most plays with eight.

Riley Myers went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks in hits.

Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets welcome Strasburg Varsity Rams on Wednesday for their next game.
