Moorefield Varsity Yellow Jackets scored seven runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Tygarts Valley Bulldogs Varsity 10-0 on Friday. Edison Metheny hit a solo home run to right field, Blake Snyder singled, scoring one run, Matthew Iman tripled, scoring three runs, Caleb Flinn singled, scoring one run, and Edison Metheny grounded out, scoring one run.
Moorefield Varsity Yellow Jackets were the first to get on the board in the second when Eastyn Haines tripled, scoring two runs.
Trevor Baldwin earned the win for Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets. The hurler surrendered four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Cooper Markley took the loss for Tygarts Valley Bulldogs Varsity. The pitcher went two innings, allowing nine runs (six earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking one.
Matthew Iman went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Caleb Flinn, Eastyn Haines, Oliver Crites, Blake Snyder, Zakk Keplinger, Edison Metheny, and Matthew Iman each collected one hit for Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets. Caleb Flinn stole two bases. Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game. Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets turned one double play in the game. Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets didn’t commit a single error in the field. Oliver Crites had the most chances in the field with eight.
Jacob Wamsley, Austin Wilson, Austin Gear, and Corban Oldaker each collected one hit for Tygarts Valley Bulldogs Varsity.
