Loretta Carrol Moyer Keplinger, 84, of Harrisonburg, VA passed on April 15, 2026 at Life Care Center in New Market.
She was born August 18, 1941 in Hardy County, WV to the late Walter and Pearl Lee See Moyer. Loretta graduated from Mathias High School (Mathias WV) in 1959 as the valedictorian of her class. She worked for 20 plus years at Rockingham Petroleum in Timberville VA.
On May 15, 1963 she married Harry E “Keppie” Keplinger. They spent the later part of their lives operating Keppie’s businesses (stores, sales) and traveling seasonally to the southwestern US. Loretta loved her beloved Mr. Katt. She was known for her love of cats and sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter Melody Kearney and son-in-law Patrick Kearney, granddaughter Lorann Kearney and niece Alice Miller, her husband Roger Miller, their children Brian and Janel, and her sister-in-law Sharon Kline Moyer and several nieces and nephews. Her close friends included Stella Hassler, Nancy Evans, Donna Hise and her daughter Meghan, Cathy Fisher, Darlene and Kenny Hartman.
Loretta was the last surviving member of her family. Proceeding her in death along with her parents are four brothers; Ora, Dewey, Walter Jr. and Clifton Moyer, four sisters; Lona Wilkins, Wanda Moyer, Naomi Higgs and Catherine Smith.
The body was cremated and a celebration of life will be held in the future.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations are made to Cat’s Cradle animal rescue of Harrisonburg, VA, (P.O. Box 2128, Harrisonburg, VA 22801) or the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA (2170 Old Furnace Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22802) to help improve the life of the cats that she loved so much.
