Strosnider (Richard Bland College) Leads East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars Past Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs

Madison Strosnider (Richard Bland College) collected four hits in four at bats, as East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars defeated Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs 18-15 on Saturday at 1852 Staunton Parkersburg Tpke. Madison Strosnider (Richard Bland College) doubled in the third inning, singled in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars collected 24 hits and Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs 20 in the high-scoring affair.

East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Madison Strosnider (Richard Bland College) singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Kendall Simmons singled, scoring one run, Hallie Ellis doubled, scoring two runs, and Kiera Rosier doubled, scoring one run.

East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars jumped back into the lead in the top of the second inning after Adyson Crider doubled, and Gracie Heishman singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars scored seven runs on nine hits in the top of the third inning. Alexis Baker singled, scoring one run, Taylor McReynolds singled, scoring two runs, Charlee Hahn singled, scoring one run, Gracie Heishman singled, scoring one run, and Madison Strosnider (Richard Bland College) doubled, scoring two runs.

Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs scored eight runs on eight hits in the bottom of the third inning. Kailen Yokum doubled, scoring one run, Hallie Ellis singled, scoring one run, Alyssa Swecker doubled, scoring two runs, Addison Riddle doubled, scoring one run, and Kendall Simmons singled, scoring one run.

Alyssa Swecker doubled down the left field line, which helped Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs tie the game at 15 in the bottom of the fifth.

A double by Paylynn Rexrode gave East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars the lead, 16-15, in the top of the sixth.

Alexis Baker earned the win for East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars. The right-handed pitcher allowed 20 hits and 13 runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking none. Lilly Lanham took the loss for Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs. The hurler went two innings, surrendering two runs on five hits, striking out three and walking two. Hallie Ellis began the game for Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs. The right-handed pitcher allowed 19 hits and 16 runs (14 earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking six. Madison Strosnider (Richard Bland College) collected the save.

East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars piled up 24 hits in the game. Bella Bauserman, Paylynn Rexrode, Taylor McReynolds, Gracie Heishman, Jaylynn Combs, Adyson Crider, and Alexis Baker each collected multiple hits for East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars. Taylor McReynolds led East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Madison Strosnider (Richard Bland College) threw an immaculate inning in the sixth, striking out the side on nine pitches. Paylynn Rexrode and Taylor McReynolds each stole multiple bases for East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars. East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars stole seven bases in the game. East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars turned one double play in the game.

Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs collected 20 hits in the game. Kailen Yokum, Emily Smith, Alyssa Swecker, Kendall Simmons, and Kiera Rosier each collected three hits for Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs. Alyssa Swecker, Hallie Ellis, and Kendall Simmons each drove in two runs for Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs.

Next up for East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars is a game against Berkeley Springs on Monday.
