Brenna See collected three hits in four at bats, but Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets lost to South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks 11-8 on Tuesday at 226 Spring Ave. Brenna See doubled in the fourth inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.
South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two doubles. South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks first got on the board when Riley Myers doubled, scoring one run.
South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Riley Myers doubled to left field, and Emily Squires singled to center field, each scoring one run.
A double by Brenna See gave Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth.
South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks captured the lead, 8-5, in the top of the fifth after Riley Myers singled to center field, Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets committed an error, Keelie Trout singled down the left field line, and Khloe Oliverio grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
Ava Louk earned the win for South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks. The starter surrendered eight hits and eight runs (five earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking six. Annie Barr took the loss for Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets. The hurler went four and one-third innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out nine and walking none.
Annie Barr and Brenna See were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets. Emmy Crites, Annie Barr, Grace Simmons, and Kerigan Bergall each stole multiple bases for Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets. Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets ran wild on the base paths, tallying 12 stolen bases for the game.
South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks collected 10 hits in the game. Riley Myers provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks with three runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-5 on the day. Alexis Peck and Emily Squires each collected multiple hits for South Harrison Varsity Lady Hawks.
