Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets snatched the lead late in their 4-3 victory over Petersburg Varsity Viking on Wednesday. The game was tied at three in the top of the fifth when Trevor Baldwin singled, scoring one run.
Petersburg Varsity Viking were the first to get on the board in the first when a dropped third strike scored two runs.
An error extended the Petersburg Varsity Viking lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a single by Eastyn Haines, and a double by Kail Greenwalt.
Blake Snyder earned the win for Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets. The starter surrendered four hits and three runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one. Owen Reel took the loss for Petersburg Varsity Viking. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out seven and walking two.
Oliver Crites led Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets with three hits in three at bats. Kail Greenwalt, Eastyn Haines, and Oliver Crites each drove in one run for Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets. Edison Metheny stole two bases. Moorefield Varsity YellowJackets ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game.
