Shirley Frances (Mitchell) Wolfe, age 84 of Petersburg passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Grant Memorial Hospital.
Shirley was born on January 12, 1941 in Kline, WV and was a daughter of the late Irene Frances (Mitchell) Strawderman and Luther Lee Strawderman. Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary D. Wolfe Sr on March 26, 2025.
Shirley is survived by her son, Gary Wolfe Jr. and wife Bobbi and her daughter, Connie F. Orndoff; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Shirley was a 1959 graduate of Petersburg High School. She married the love of her life Gary Wolfe in 1962. They lived in Alexandria, VA and later moved back to West Virginia. Later Shirley retired after 30 years from American Woodmark Corp in Moorefield, WV. Her commitment to the company was evident in the lasting relationships she cultivated over the years.
Shirley enjoyed the outdoors and the family had hunting camps in South Fork and Pendleton County. While a resident at Pendleton Manor, Shirley was an Official Greeter and Mother Hen to all that knew her. Her passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and friends at camp. Shirley was a member of Brake Covenant Brethren Church.
Shirley’s family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 4:00 -6:00 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV.
