Potomac Valley Post 64 With Tough Game Against ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr.

Potomac Valley Post 64 couldn’t keep up with ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr. and fell 14-4 on Wednesday in the American Legion Area 4 Tournament in Martinsburg.

ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr. opened the scoring in the first after Braeden Oviedo singled, scoring two runs.

ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr. scored seven runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Brayden Edwards singled, scoring one run, Jamere Brown doubled, scoring one run, Wyatt McClintock drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Cole Smith singled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run.

Trevor Baldwin (Moorefield) led things off on the bump for Potomac Valley Post 64. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and nine runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking four. Owen Ruppenthal led things off on the mound for ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr.. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and four runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking five.

Lucas Williamson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Potomac Valley Post 64 in hits. Hunter Harr, Landon Tysinger, and Landon Whitacre each drove in one run for Potomac Valley Post 64. Trevor Baldwin led Potomac Valley Post 64 with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Lucas Williamson and Landon Whitacre each stole multiple bases for Potomac Valley Post 64. Potomac Valley Post 64 stole five bases in the game.

ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr. tallied 10 hits in the game. Brayden Edwards, Braeden Oviedo, and Cole Smith each collected two hits for ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr.. Wyatt McClintock led ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr. with three runs batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. ALB Berkeley POST 14 Sr. were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Cole Smith had the most chances in the field with nine.

Next up for Potomac Valley Post 64 is a game at Area Tournament on Thursday.
