Moorefield 8-10 Softball All-Stars shutout Mineral County 13-nil to win the West Virginia Little League District 6 Championship as Margo See and Danica Mongold combined for 15 strikeouts in Baker.
East Hardy County Little League hosted the District 6 Tournament for the first time since 2018.
Moorefield starting pitcher Margo See tossed nine strikeouts with a no-hitter through three innings in the championship, then closer Danica Mongold recorded six strikeouts and gave up just two hits en route to claiming the title.
The Moorefield players made sure all three coaches had a cooler of water splashed on them during their celebration.
Moorefield proudly hoisted up the championship banner and ran around the bases with it.
Moorefield commenced the championship with a single by Addie Baldwin.
Margo See smacked an RBI single for the initial 1-nil edge.
Mineral County pitcher Brynlee induced groundouts by Danica and Chloe Mongold as See advanced to third base.
Tatum Crites drew a walk to put runners on the corners.
Moorefield’s Reagan Funk launched the ball into center field where the ball was dropped and two runs scored on the error for a 3-0 lead.
Mineral County retired the side with a strikeout to Sara Sherman.
See pitched three strikeouts and allowed one walk in the opening frame.
Moorefield’s Addison Fitzwater and Arianne Taylor both received free passes to start the second inning, then advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Hadley Weese.
Mineral County walked Allison Bailey to load the bases.
A strikeout and flyout prevented a score for Moorefield in the second inning.
See put Mineral County down in order with strikeouts thrice.
Moorefield went down in order in the third inning as See flew out, then Danica and Chloe Mongold grounded out.
See gave up a free pass before countering with three strikeouts against Mineral County in the bottom of the third inning.
Moorefield’s Tatum Crites hit a sharp infield single and Mineral County wasn’t paying attention as she darted to second base and the throw went askew.
Crites stole third base and was sent home on an RBI groundout by Funk for a 4-0 lead.
After a strikeout to Sherman, Moorefield loaded the bases on three straight walks to Fitzwater, Taylor and Weese.
Bailey received a free pass to plate Fitzwater extending the Moorefield advantage to 5-0.
Mineral County allowed another walk to Presley Shockey creating a run for a 6-0 lead, then Baldwin hit into a fielder’s choice out at home.
Moorefield pitcher Danica Mongold recorded a strikeout, then allowed a single and walk before inducing a groundout and notching another strikeout in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Moorefield’s Margo See singled and advanced to second base with the help of an error in the fifth inning, then moved to third base on a groundout by Danica Mongold.
Moorefield’s Chloe Mongold hammered an RBI triple to the fence which developed into an inside-the-park home run on an errant throw for an 8-0 lead.
Mineral County responded with a strikeout and groundout to retire the side.
Mongold pitched a strikeout prior to allowing a single, then the Mineral County runner was stranded at third base on a pair of strikeouts.
Moorefield commenced the sixth inning with Sherman receiving a walk and stealings second base with an error moving her to third base, then Fitzwater drew a walk for runners on the corners.
After a stolen base and strikeout, Weese loaded the bases when hit by a pitch.
Mineral County recorded a strikeout for the second out.
Shockey crushed a bases clearing single and dashed to second base on the throw home for an 11-nil advantage.
A pitch slipped and skyrocketed over to the dugout as Shockey stole second base.
Baldwin walked and a steal to third base by Shockey on that play turned into an error creating a run, then Baldwin scored on the same miscue to put Moorefield up 13-0.

Moorefield advances to the state tournament in Hedgesville on July 11-12.
