East Hardy Cross Country improved times for the season at the 18th Annual Paul Clovis Cross Country Invitational in Sunrise Summit.
East Hardy Girls Cross Country sophomore Shaye Barb had an electrifying photo finish just being edged out for sixth place by host Hampshire’s Alivia Dice at 25:09.4.
Barb’s season best time of 25:09.5 was good enough for seventh place and received an all-tournament medal trophy.
“I’m so proud of Shaye. She’s been training hard. Kane set a new PR, too. Jon had a strong finish at 19th,” East Hardy Cross Country coach Michelle Wolfe noted.
This course wrapped around the athletic complex of the tennis courts, baseball field, through the woods and along the track discus throwing area with a finish in the football stadium.
Cougars teammates continued with improvements on the season as junior Danielle Funkhouser took 25th place in a time of 29:58 and freshman newcomer Delanie Wolfe had a personal best time of 32:22 for 32nd overall.
Barb and Funkhouser had fun doing a special sign for their Nos. 6 and 7 racing bibs.
