Ethel Marie Cooper

Ethel Marie Cooper, 94, of Wardensville, WV, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Skyline Terrace Nursing Home in Woodstock, VA.

Ethel was born on June 1, 1932, in Edinburg, VA, the daughter of the late Oliver L. Day & Flossie V. Heishman Deitz. Ethel was a 1950 graduate of Wardensville High School and worked over 32 years as a seamstress for Wrangler Jean Company in Woodstock. She was a member of the Sugar Grove Church of the Brethren in Wardensville and served as vice president of the Sugar Grove Church Ladies Circle.

Ethel enjoyed quilting, baking, crocheting, and working on puzzles. Ethel liked to help her son-in-law work in the chicken houses, but most of all spending her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters: Teresa L. Baker (John) of Wardensville, WV; Lora C. Albright (Dale) of Strasburg, VA; a brother: Benjamin “Benny” Deitz of Arkansas; two sisters: Kathryn Combs of Edinburg, VA; Charlotte Stuart of Woodstock, VA; four grandchildren: Kelly Myers (Baldy), Holly Eastwood (David), Adam Jenkins (Kathryn), & Brittany Johnson (Seth); four great-grandchildren: Lucas & Haley Myers, Marleigh & Logan Aton.

She is preceded in death by four sisters: Barbara Jenkins, Laura Lager, Grace Armour, Beatrice Loulands; and two brothers: Edward Deitz and Owen Deitz.

The family will receive friends at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Wardensville, WV on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m.. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m.. Officiating will be Pastor Jan Orndorff. Interment will be privately held in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Wardensville, WV.

Memorials may be made in memory of Ethel to the Sugar Grove Church of the Brethren, C/O Alisa Merritt, 1108 Trout Run Road, Wardensville, WV 26851.
