Arnold Lee Whetzel, age 88 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Saturday morning, July 4, 2026, at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on September 10, 1937, near Moorefield, WV, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Whetzel and Maggie Lee Lewis Whetzel. He was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints.
Arnold, who spent many years working in the poultry processing industry, including stints at Keplinger Poultry and Pilgrim’s Pride, had a reputation for his hard work and dedication. He also worked for Neff’s Dairy farm and Pepsi Cola Bottling, Co., reaffirming his work ethic. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—hunting, fishing, and listening to country music. He would often be found in front of the TV, cheering on his favorite wrestling matches or sharing tales of his adventures in the great outdoors.
Surviving is his wife; Wanda Lee Mongold Whetzel; daughters, Terri (Manny) Whetzel and April Whetzel.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Lee Mongold Whetzel, and his daughters, Terri (Manny) Whetzel and April Whetzel. Their lives are richer for having shared so many wonderful moments with him.
In honor of Arnold’s remarkable life, the family will receive friends at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, located at 107 Washington Street, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at Olivet Cemetery, officiated by Bishops Jimi Kimble and Steve Kimble.
