Betty Lou Burch Welton, age 95 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday morning, May 21, 2026, in Medina, OH. Born on November 29, 1930, in Fabius, WV, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Charles Burch and Grace Irene Wilkins Burch. Betty was preceded in death by her late husband, Harry “Bus” Curtis Welton, Jr., a granddaughter, nieces, a nephew, and her beloved sister, Laura Jean Burch Kent.
Betty Lou grew up on Route 55 at the top of Branch Mountain, living above the Burch Store. When the Burch family later moved to Moorefield, she entered Moorefield High School where she met the football star Harry “Bus” Welton. After graduating from high school and completing two years at Shepherd College, she and Harry were married. She became a devoted farm wife and lovingly raised their three children on their farm.
