Madison Strosnider collected three hits in three at bats, as East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars defeated Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs 5-4 on Monday at East Hardy Elementary School. Madison Strosnider doubled in the first inning, tripled in the fifth inning, and singled in the third inning.
Madison Strosnider struck out 16 batters on the day. The righty also allowed 12 hits and four runs over six and two-thirds innings while walking three.
A double by Madison Strosnider put East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars on the board in the bottom of the first.
Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs took the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second thanks to singles by Lilly Lanham, and Kendall Simmons.
East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Madison Strosnider singled down the right field line, and Gracie Heishman grounded out, each scoring one run.
Kailen Yokum singled to right field, which helped Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs tie the game at three in the top of the fifth.
East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars captured the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the fifth after Bella Bauserman singled up the middle, and Gracie Heishman walked, each scoring one run.
Lilly Lanham began the game for Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking two.
Bella Bauserman stole two bases. East Hardy Varsity Lady Cougars were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Gracie Heishman had the most chances in the field with 13.
Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs accumulated 12 hits in the game. Kendall Simmons led Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs with four hits in four at bats. Kailen Yokum, Lilly Lanham, Kendall Simmons, and A Chandler each drove in one run for Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs. Addison Riddle and M Bell each collected multiple hits for Tygarts Valley Varsity Bulldogs.
