Moorefield Boys double up PVC Tennis titles

Moorefield Boys Tennis team secured a pair of doubles crowns in the Potomac Valley Conference Tournament, while falling short of a fourth consecutive team championship by only two wins.

The host Keyser Golden Tornado won the PVC Boys and Girls Tennis Team Championships.

Moorefield Boys Tennis No. 2 Doubles of Weston Eye and Brycen Alley won the PVC Championship edging Keyser 8-6 in the title match and beat Berkeley Springs in the semifinals 8-4.

The Yellow Jackets Boys Tennis No. 3 Doubles partners David Stonestreet and Marcel Jager claimed the PVC crown with an 8-4 win over Keyser in the championship round and beat the Indians 8-2 in the semifinals.

Moorefield Boys Tennis No. 1 Doubles of Preston Cosner and Jedidiah Blizzard lost in the opening round against Keyser 8-1.

Moorefield Boys Tennis No. 1 singles Preston Cosner lost against Keyser in the first round 8-1.

The Yellow Jackets Boys Tennis No. 2 singles Brycen Alley was edged in the opening match against Berkeley Springs 8-6.

Moorefield Boys Tennis No. 3 singles Marcel Jager finished as the PVC runner-up with an 8-2 loss to Keyser. Jager won the semifinals 8-3 over the Indians.

Moorefield Boys Tennis No. 4 singles Weston Eye lost in the PVC championship 8-1 to Keyser. Eye won the first round 8-nil against Berkeley Springs.

“Keyser won overall. We were two wins away from winning overall. We played great, just came up a little short,” Moorefield Boys Tennis coach Quincy Combs noted.

Moorefield Girls Tennis results weren’t available by press time.
